The Killing Jar, Jennifer Bosworth’s sophomore novel, is a big step up from her debut, Struck. I vaguely remember Struck as a bland, uneventful, unmemorable book, but The Killing Jar has a bit more flavor to it/5. The Killing Jar is based on the true story of Ted Lynch (his fictitious name), one of the youngest Americans to be charged with a capital crime and sentenced to death.

In in the insular hollows of Eastern Kentucky, neighbors know that Ted is being starved, living in squalor and being verbally abused by his fanatically religious mother/5(53). The 'killing jar' of the title represents the rough housing estate where the narrative takes place, it's enclosed spaces and the metaphor of being trapped runs through out the book.

The fumes that kill the butterfly are like the drugs that spread around the estate, and so I thought the images and motifs were highly fitting and used well/5(24). The Killing Jar is the story of a young girl, who grows up in house filled with drugs, violence and addiction.

Her slow transformation from young girl who still believes in a different life, into the life of a psychotic addict is mesmerizing and disturbing/5.

Brilliant, brutal, and tender, The Killing Jar introduces a brave new voice in fiction. Nicola Monaghan's devastating prose tells an unforgettable story of violence, love, and hope. Mrs Ivanovich collects butterflies and she shows Kerrie-Ann how to catch them, take care of them, and even how to kill them using a jar and some funny-smelling liquid. Kerrie-Ann loves looking at these beautiful, delicate creatures, and imagines them flying free.

This is Kerrie-Ann's story/5(52). The Killing Jar is the thirteenth installment of the original CSI tie-in series. Donn Cortez wrote it, and did so beautifully. Grissom is put to the test when a teenager is found poisoned by millipedes by someone who knows as much about creepy crawlies as he does/5.
